Never Again

Open Letter To The Democrats In Opposition To SB24-131
By: Catherine Winchester MD

A brief history: In 1933: large-scale raids in search of weapons took place in Berlin and other cities. 1936 Jews were prohibited from getting a firearm license. 1938 Jews were prohibited from possessing guns or knives. Actual disarmament though, started in 1928 when the Nazi Party made mandatory firearm and ammunition permits, limiting manufacturing and sales of weapons and only to “reliable individuals”.  In 1930 all knives had to be registered. Does this remind you of our current government?

I am married to a Jewish American whose family was totally annihilated by the Nazis and whose last name is etched on the windows of the Hall of Witness in the holocaust museum in Washington DC along with thousands of other family names.  NEVER AGAIN.

Never again will we be vulnerable.  The state can make “soft targets”/sensitive areas but those of us who carry firearms to defend ourselves will Never AGAIN be victims. We will not be like the innocent babies, women and elderly in Israel in 10/2023 beheaded or burned alive.  Or the innocent in Haiti currently experiencing unbelievable torture and death. Or the Ukranians struggling to survive.

By using your emotions you are placing your children, women, and the elderly at risk at school, church, or the grocery store.  Armed murderers would never pick hard targets like the airport, state capital, or police stations. Make hard targets of the vulnerable- this WILL PROTECT THEM.

Yesterday US federal Judge Coleman Johnson made a ruling that illegal immigrants can possess a weapon per the second amendment.  This decision will increase your vulnerability.

As Jack Nicholson said:  “You don’t want the truth because deep down in places you don’t talk about you want me on that wall, you need me on that wall. Those walls have to be guarded by men/women with guns.  You are people who sleep under the blanket of freedom” and that freedom has been provided since 1776.

Lastly, to all those firearm owners who braved 12 hours of testimony yesterday, thank you.  48 of you were not heard but we stand united. Every citizen should be heard because you were all elected by us and work for us. To the law maker who asked repeatedly how many firearms are in America?  More than 450 million. How many guns are enough?  To someone who owns guns -N+1. Someday this country or state may need our protection.

Never Again,
Catherine Winchester MD (Hope Scheppelman’s Mother)
