2026 Ballot Issues

The Amendments:

YES on 81:

Requires law enforcement to notify the federal Department of Homeland Security when certain people are charged — those with a violent crime or those with a previous felony conviction.

The current administration of the state of Colorado and left leaning municipalities have shown they will thwart legitimate federal law enforcement carrying out their job of detaining and deporting individuals who are here illegally.  Read more here.

YES on 82:

Protects the right of Coloradans to purchase natural gas for heating and cooking and the right of utilities and distributors to sell it.

The current administration of the state of Colorado has shown their propensity to take away our energy sources, and why should government take away our choice of how we heat our homes or cook our meals? We can support new energy technologies without taking away the energy sources families and businesses already depend on.  It’s about protecting consumer choice and affordable energy.

YES on 83

Would establish a constitutional right to hunt and fish and declare hunting and fishing the state’s preferred means of responsibly managing wildlife populations. It also preserves the state’s ability to regulate those activities for scientific conservation, public safety and the protection of future hunting and fishing opportunities.

It doesn’t say mountain bikers would automatically lose a conflict with hunters. It doesn’t authorize trespassing. And it doesn’t specifically put leghold traps, bear baiting or wildlife-killing contests into the Constitution.  That’s all extreme language to scare you.

YES on 84

Would require Colorado voters submitting mail ballots to provide an identification number in addition to their signature, such as the last four digits of their Social Security number or a qualifying Colorado driver’s license or state ID number. Voters would have an opportunity to correct missing or incorrect information.

Voters should be able to cast their ballots confidently, knowing that meaningful verification safeguards are in place.

YES on 85

Would amend the state constitution to require state and local ballot questions to be written at reading level no higher than eighth-grade. The measure also would prevent state laws from requiring certain language in citizen-initiated ballot titles if those requirements conflict with the plain-language standard.

It is a follow on to the law passed in 2023 which required ballot measures be written in plain language.

YES on 86

Would require any mid-decade redistricting plan to be approved by both the state’s independent redistricting commission and the Colorado Supreme Court.  Would prohibit the approval of maps that have been drawn purposefully to favor one political party, so the intent is to prevent political gerrymandering of congressional districts.

NO on 87

Would usher in a graduated income tax which even a significant number of Democrats and the Denver Post are against.  Why?  It would really hurt Colorado jobs and population at a time we can’t afford to lose either.

The Propositions:

YES on 133

Raises the penalty to life in prison without parole for anyone convicted of sex trafficking minors.  Read more here.

YES on 134

Would require that kids from kindergarten through college play on school sports teams that match their biological sex unless playing on a team designated as coed. Read more here.

YES on 135

Would prohibit any health-care professional or other person from knowingly performing, prescribing, administering, or providing any surgery to a minor for the purpose of altering the minor’s biological sex characteristics and prohibiting the use of state or federal funds, Medicaid reimbursement, or insurance coverage to pay for this type of surgery. Read more here.

YES on 136

Would cap the income tax rate at 4.4% which is the current rate.

NO on 137

Would let the State of Colorado keep state sales tax revenue from certain sporting goods and equipment beginning July 1, 2027 supposedly without raising taxes but would erode our TABOR (Taxpayer Bill of Rights) refunds.

NO on NN

The same Democrat administration who created a $1.6 Billion state budget deficit, which is negatively affecting public school funding, wants you to approve of them taking the tax monies owed to you and supposedly giving it to teachers. In reality, it’s another run at doing away with the TABOR refunds to taxpayers.  These people never quit trying to get that money because they do not know how to stop spending.  They only know how to dig their hands deeper in the taxpayers’ pockets.
